Bubble Box Laundry
Terms of Use
The house rules for using our self-service laundries and our website, in plain English. Thanks for helping keep Bubble Box fresh, safe and friendly for everyone.
1About us and these terms
Bubble Box Laundry (“Bubble Box”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is the trading name of J&B Collective Pty Ltd (ABN 37 646 746 527), a local business run by Jade & Bec. We operate self-service laundries at:
- Manly — 43a Sydney Road, Manly NSW 2095
- Dee Why — 4 Pacific Parade, Dee Why NSW 2099
- Newport — 3 Robertson Rd, Newport NSW 2106
These Terms of Use apply when you visit or use any of our laundries, our machines or our website. By using a Bubble Box laundry or our website, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use our stores or website.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that can’t be excluded (see section 4).
2Using our stores
Opening hours
Our laundries are open 6am–10pm, seven days a week, including public holidays. Occasionally we may need to close a store or some machines for cleaning, maintenance, repairs or other reasons outside our control.
Self-service
Bubble Box is a self-service laundry. Staff may not be on site, so you’re responsible for choosing a suitable machine and cycle, loading and unloading your laundry, and keeping an eye on your belongings. If you need help, contact us using the details in section 12.
Using the machines
- Follow the instructions and any signs displayed on or near each machine.
- Detergent is automatically dispensed by our washing machines, and fabric softener is automatically dispensed on applicable cycles (a cold wash option without softener is available). Please don’t add your own detergent, bleach or other chemicals to the machines.
- Don’t overload the machines — your laundry needs room to move. The maximum load is 15kg per machine; please also follow the load guidance shown on each machine.
- Check your pockets and the care labels on your items before washing or drying.
- Collect your laundry promptly when your cycle finishes and leave the machine ready for the next person.
Items you can’t put in our machines
To keep the machines clean, safe and working well for everyone, please don’t wash or dry:
- furry pet beds, pet bedding or other heavily hair-covered items;
- horse blankets or horse rugs;
- heavily soiled items, or anything covered in excessive animal hair, mud, grease or other contaminants;
- items soaked in or contaminated with flammable or hazardous substances such as oil, petrol, solvents, paint or chemicals (for example, oily rags or workshop cloths);
- anything the care label says shouldn’t be machine washed or tumble dried.
If prohibited items damage or contaminate a machine, we may ask you to cover the reasonable cost of cleaning or repair.
Children
Children must be supervised by a parent or responsible adult at all times while in our stores, and shouldn’t play on, in or around the machines.
Respect the space
- Be considerate of other customers and our neighbours.
- Keep the store clean and tidy: put rubbish in the bins and clean up any spills.
- Please avoid bringing messy food and drinks into the store.
- Don’t damage, misuse or tamper with the machines, payment terminals or fittings.
- No smoking or vaping inside our stores.
We may ask anyone who doesn’t follow these terms, or who behaves in an unsafe or antisocial way, to leave the store.
3Payments and pricing
- Our stores are 100% cashless. You pay by tapping your card, phone or smartwatch on the payment reader at each machine. We don’t accept coins or cash.
- Payments are securely processed by our third-party payment providers (currently Nayax for our machines). Bubble Box does not receive or store your full card number.
- Prices vary by machine and cycle, and are displayed on each machine before you pay. Prices include GST and may change from time to time; the price shown on the machine when you pay is the price that applies.
- If your laundry needs longer in the dryer, you can pay for another cycle.
4Faulty machines and refunds
We work hard to keep every machine running well, but occasionally things go wrong. If you’ve been charged but your machine hasn’t started, please contact us at hello@bubblebox.com.au or (02) 8252 8062 with the store location, machine number (if you know it), approximate time and payment details. We’ll investigate and arrange an appropriate resolution, including a refund where required.
The same applies if a machine stops partway through a cycle or doesn’t work properly. If a machine isn’t working, please don’t keep paying for it — move to another machine and let us know.
Your consumer rights. Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with a service, you’re entitled to cancel and receive a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value. You’re also entitled to compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If a failure doesn’t amount to a major failure, you’re entitled to have the problem with the service fixed in a reasonable time and, if this is not done, to cancel and obtain a refund for the unused portion.
5Unattended laundry and items left behind
Please collect your laundry promptly when your cycle finishes, so the machines are free for others to use. You’re welcome to step out while your cycle runs, but please be back before it finishes.
If laundry is left in or on a machine after its cycle has finished, we may need to move it so the machine can be used by others.
Because our stores are self-service and staff may not be on site, please don’t leave your laundry or belongings unattended, and check the drum before you leave. To the extent permitted by law, we aren’t responsible for loss of or damage to unattended items caused by things outside our reasonable control. This is subject to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
If you’ve left something behind, please contact us as soon as possible at hello@bubblebox.com.au or (02) 8252 8062 with the store, the date and a description of the item. We’ll do our best to help, but we can’t guarantee that items will be recovered.
6Care of your clothing
Please check your garment care labels, empty pockets and select the appropriate cycle before washing or drying. While we take care to maintain our machines, Bubble Box cannot guarantee that every garment is suitable for machine washing or tumble drying.
Some items aren’t suited to commercial machines — for example, delicate fabrics, wool, some activewear, or items likely to shrink or fade. If an item needs hand washing or specialist cleaning, please follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
To the extent permitted by law, we aren’t responsible for loss or damage caused by things outside our reasonable control, such as items left in pockets or a garment that isn’t suitable for the cycle selected.
If you believe one of our machines has damaged your items, please contact us promptly with photos, the store location, the machine number (if you know it) and the approximate time. We’ll look into it and respond fairly.
Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
7Safety and security cameras
CCTV operates in our stores. We use it to help keep customers safe, protect our stores and equipment, and investigate incidents. Footage is handled in line with our Privacy Policy and may be shared with police or other authorities where required or permitted by law.
Please use our stores safely. In an emergency, call 000. If you notice a hazard (such as a spill, a damaged machine or a problem with the power or water), please stop using the affected machine and let us know straight away.
8Using our website
- We try to keep the information on our website (such as opening hours, locations and prices) accurate and up to date, but it may change without notice. The price shown on the machine applies.
- All content on the website, including our name, logo, text, images and design, belongs to us or our licensors. Please don’t copy or reuse it for commercial purposes without our permission.
- Don’t use our website in a way that is unlawful, interferes with how it works, or tries to gain unauthorised access to it.
- Our website links to other websites, such as Google Maps for directions and our Instagram and Facebook pages. We aren’t responsible for the content or practices of those sites.
- How we handle personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy.
9Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, for example if we change how our stores operate or if the law changes. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. The version in place when you use our stores or website is the one that applies.
10Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales and the Commonwealth of Australia.
If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest of the terms will continue to apply.
11Feedback and complaints
We’re always happy to hear from you. If something isn’t right, please contact us first and we’ll do our best to sort it out quickly. If we can’t resolve a consumer issue, you can contact NSW Fair Trading at fairtrading.nsw.gov.au.
